Designed for Milford, close up viewing can be had from both decks of the boat, inside and out, and from Milford Sound's only all weather glass roof covered external seating area.
The cruise travels beneath sheer cliff faces of the mountains that rise almost vertically from the depths of the fiord and out into the Tasman Sea. You'll see why Captain Cook who after charting all the other fiords of Fiordland National Park failed to discover Milford Sound. During the cruise stops are made at various points of interest along the way. You'll get close enough to be doused by the spray from towering waterfalls dropping from hanging valleys, and see seal colonies from just metres away. During the period from August to early December the rare Fiordland Crest Penguin can often be seen at various localities around the shoreline. Dolphins are also seen from time to time when they visit the fiord but are not always present.
Tea & Coffee are complimentary and a selection of food and drink is available for purchase on-board. An informative commentary is provided and there are interesting information sheets that can be taken away.
