when driving the last km up to the 'one lane' tunnel, it started to rain like i've only seen in the Alps. Waiting at the tunnel we were surrounded by the water that came down from the very steep hills! Spectacular!! although my wife didnt feel comfortable...The short walk from the parking to the terminal was far enough to get us wet, although we had rain clothing! Once on board the rain suddenly stopped, but we still got wet as the wind went under the first waterfall on the right who was massively fed by the rain....gorgeous sight!!!!U nfortunately the clouds were still hanging around 300meter so we didnt have the full sight on the surrounding cliffs and mountains.

Absolutely loved the Milford Sound Scenic Cruise with Real Journeys. It was a lovely big boat with lots of room and great amenities. Huge outdoor deck on top to take in all the scenery. Great commentary too!

By mistake i made a double booking, but the same day i got a mail from Real Journeys asking if this was intended - many many thanks for capturing my mistake!!! As it was not i needed assistance from Bookme to undo the double booking and debiting of my creditcard. In less then 24 hours they solved my problem!! When driving to Milford Sound it was raining cats and dogs, but once on board the only water we only got wet when the boat passed very close to the waterfalls along the Sound! Great voyage!

Maybe this review is influenced by the heavy, overcast weather on cruise day. But after driving around the South Island from Queenstown to Te Anau and up to the Sound, we thought the cruise was a bit anti-climatic. There is so much beautiful scenery everywhere, the Sound was just more of the same. If we had it to do over again, I think we would drive up the "track" and make some of the stops along the way (per the map), forget the cruise & save the 127 NZD.
