Abel Tasman - SUP Freedom 2 Hour Paddleboard Hire

4.7

SUP in the stunning Abel Tasman National Park and head for the famous Split Apple Rock on a two hour SUP Hire.

SUP in the peace and tranquility of the stunning Abel Tasman National Park and if you are an experienced paddle boarder and conditions are ideal head for the famous Split Apple Rock.

The park has beautiful golden beaches and tidal estuaries that will take your breath away, full of history from the areas discovery, through to the early settlers, and your friendly guide will inform and entertain you.

Paddle boarding is the latest craze. It is fun and great for physical fitness, although you can take it easy if you wish.

Early in the morning the water is often mill pond calm, and it is a quiet time to enjoy the vistas and some exercise.

Anyone can SUP. The owners mum is 73 years old, and she is often SUPing around the estuary. She finds this good for arthritis, balance and notes it is very relaxing.

When you go paddle boarding we recommend taking nothing with you, because things are easily lost, make sure you apply sunscreen and we do have wetsuits as an option. If this is your first time paddle boarding we give you a quick lesion and in some cases that lesion can take up to 20 mins depending on your paddling ability’s and wind conditions. Please understand that paddle boarding in strong winds can be very difficult and dangerous and your instructor will assess your paddling ability’s before you depart and if you are not a strong paddler your instructor may recommend you stay close to shore or in just a small area. We take client safety very seriously here however on a paddleboard you can’t really take a flair or your cell phone with you, so you have no form of communication should you find yourself in serious trouble.

Price: $60 Per Person

Conditions: Minimum 12 years, under the age of 16 you need to be accompanied by an adult.

Meeting Point: Meet us in the car park opposite 179 Sandy Bay-Marahau Rd, Marahau. This is the first car park on you right as you drive into Marahau. Bus transfers, pick up and drop off services are not included

Please Note: You must be an experienced paddler to venture to Split Apple Rock. If the weathers conditions are poor you may be required to stay within a smaller area for your own safety. Mostly we allow the 9am paddle boarders to go to Split Apple Rock and mostly at 11am the wind will start picking up. If you need a lesson and you have never paddled before then this can take up to 30mins and is part of your allocated time.

First SUP Experience

We enjoyed the SUP very much. The owner gave us a brief introduction and some useful advice for our first time. Thankfully it was easier than thought. 2 hours are perfect for paddling around.

Fun, but wouldn't recommend on a windy day.

The wind was up on the day my group went. As a result we were unable to go very far from our starting point unless we wanted to get out of the water and carry our boards all the way back. Our group still had fun and the water was beautiful. Just a shame we couldn't explore properly.
