Kaiteriteri Kayak - Astrolabe Explorer Full Day Guided Kayak

Add to List

Join Kaiterteri Kayak for an unforgettable full day kayak adventure exploring the beautiful coastline between Anchorage and Kaiteriteri.

You'll see more of the Abel Tasman National Park from a kayak than any other day trip!

Some of the fantastic highlights include: exploring lagoons (if tide permits), paddling with the seals at Adele Island, checking out Split Apple Rock, visiting Te Pukatea Bay, the Mad Mile and stopping on Fisherman’s or Adele Island.

Places such as Stilwell Bay are guide-favourites to share with you - we’ll paddle around distinctive and fascinating caves and arches, surrounded by luscious green tree-ferns.

The friendly fur seals of Adele Island are in residence all year round and we also pass a couple of Cormorant colonies along the way!

You’ll start your journey with a scenic Sea Shuttle cruise to the heart of the park where you'll start your kayaking experience.

We paddle in the same direction as the predominant wind - the sea breeze. This makes for a relaxed and enjoyable paddling experience.

No kayaking experience is necessary to enjoy this spectacular experience - our friendly guide will show you the ropes and make sure you are comfortable and confident before heading out on the water!

Highlights:

  • NZ Fur Seal encounters at Adele Island seal colony
  • Hear the Birdsong at Adele Island – this predator free bird sanctuary
  • Experience some of the secluded beaches of the Astrolabe area, paddle the islands and explore.
  • Fully Catered
  • A one-way tour moving in the same direction as the predominant wind - the sea breeze
  • Plenty of open-water sailing when the sea-breeze allows
  • No experience necessary See the entire southern coastline and enjoy easier paddling with the wind

Amazing experience with some wonderful memories

We had an absolutely thrilling experience when we took the Kaiteriteri Kayak tour in Abel Tasman. We got lucky as we were the only ones who booked that day (as we were close to Christmas), and got a private tour from our wonderful guides - Dan and Meg. They made sure that we enjoyed the experience, pushed us only as hard as we wanted, and kept us well fed as well :). We kayaked the seas, saw lots of seals (one even hunting an eel), learnt the history of the park, fought against the winds and did everything an adventurous nature trip could give us! It was just amazing and worth it.

    Daniel is a genius

Daniel took us 5 on the Astrolabe kayak trip. 6 hours total including 5 hours kayaking, fur seals, gorgeous birds, history lessons about New Zealand, and a delicious lunch on our own beach... We had an amazing time and that was thanks to Daniel. I highly recommend it.

    Amazing day!!

This was one of the best days I had in the South island!! Shack was super fun, knowledgeable and let us choose what we did where possible. We saw seal pups, so many birds and stunning views of the coastline & national park so if being outside with a bit of exercise to experience nature is your thing I'd 100% recommend this!
