Kaiteriteri Kayak - Astrolabe Explorer Full Day Guided Kayak

Join Kaiterteri Kayak for an unforgettable full day kayak adventure exploring the beautiful coastline between Anchorage and Kaiteriteri.

Highlights

  • NZ Fur Seal encounters at Adele Island seal colony
  • Hear the Birdsong at Adele Island's predator free bird sanctuary
  • Experience some of the secluded beaches of the Astrolabe area, paddle the islands and explore
  • A one-way tour moving in the same direction as the predominant wind - the sea breeze

You'll see more of the Abel Tasman National Park from a kayak than any other day trip!

Explore lagoons (if tide permits), paddle with the seals at Adele Island, check out Split Apple Rock, visit Te Pukatea Bay, the Mad Mile and sit back, close your eyes and listen to the abundant birdsong of the Adele Island Wildlife Sanctuary.

Places such as Stilwell Bay are guide-favourites to share with you - we’ll paddle around distinctive and fascinating caves and arches, surrounded by luscious green tree-ferns. The friendly fur seals of Adele Island are in residence all year round and we also pass a couple of Cormorant colonies along the way!

You’ll start your journey with a scenic Sea Shuttle cruise to the heart of the park where you'll start your kayaking experience. We paddle in the same direction as the predominant wind - the sea breeze. This makes for a great day with some opportunities for some great sailing when the weather permits.

This tour requires a reasonable amount of fitness as it is the longest paddling day on the water - our friendly guide will show you the ropes and make sure you are comfortable and confident before heading out on the water!

Duration: 9am - 4:30pm. Total paddling time of 3.5 to 4hrs approximately 12km in distance.

Location: The Kaiteriteri beach base on Kaiteriteri-Sandy Bay Road.

Per Person $175.00

Daniel is a genius

Daniel took us 5 on the Astrolabe kayak trip. 6 hours total including 5 hours kayaking, fur seals, gorgeous birds, history lessons about New Zealand, and a delicious lunch on our own beach... We had an amazing time and that was thanks to Daniel. I highly recommend it.

Amazing experience with some wonderful memories

We had an absolutely thrilling experience when we took the Kaiteriteri Kayak tour in Abel Tasman. We got lucky as we were the only ones who booked that day (as we were close to Christmas), and got a private tour from our wonderful guides - Dan and Meg. They made sure that we enjoyed the experience, pushed us only as hard as we wanted, and kept us well fed as well :). We kayaked the seas, saw lots of seals (one even hunting an eel), learnt the history of the park, fought against the winds and did everything an adventurous nature trip could give us! It was just amazing and worth it.

The best way to experience the coast

Having spent a couple days in the Abel Tasman, the waterline was consistently the most scenic, lively part of the landscape. The coastal walking track kept inland for quite a while and didn't live up to my expectations. Do yourself a favor and experience the park by kayak! Exploring this beautiful coast with a friendly guide and getting the opportunity to learn a lot about the local history, Maori culture, and more was definitely the highlight of my Abel Tasman trip. I went in March and there were lots of baby seals rolling near the rocks, which added an adorable bit of flavor to an already great trip. Can't recommend Kaiteriteri Kayaks enough. Thanks for the great time!
