Picton - Historic Ship - Edwin Fox Ship & Visitor Centre - Worlds oldest Merchant Ship

The Oldest Merchant ship in the World!

The Edwin Fox Ship & Visitor Centre is a rare example of our long gone past.

It has been a convict ship, an immigrant ship bringing early settlers to New Zealand and a trader.

It may have even bought your early fore-bearers to New Zealand or Australia!!, and what stories it has to tell.

Edwin Fox Ship & Visitor Centre in Picton is a must do.

It is very highly rated and offers an ideal all weather activity and it is particularly family friendly.

Try lying on a straw bed, as the early travellers did. See the interactive displays and amaze yourself at the hardships the early seafarers were subjected to.

This is a classic part of New Zealand maritime history right in the heart of Picton.

    A must see

We had three children in tow and we thoroughly the whole experience. Great photo opportunities if you like finding the interesting angles, some fun props and cut outs to entertain the kids too. Don't forget to bring some change to make a donation to the upkeep too!

    Edwin Fox Museum

This was such a unique experience and a fantastic opportunity to get a feel for what it must have been like to travel on the Edwin Fox during its widely varied history. A really interesting and informative exhibition well worth seeing.

    Wonderful story! Very engaging!

The Edwin Fox museum is a must see in Picton! We come from a boating history but regardless, the film and the display were exceptional in describing the story behind the Edwin Fox. Still sad at the end of her career! The outside exhibit has been perfectly showcased.
