It started off with a booking problem - we made our booking on Book Me, and then in accordance with the instructions, rang up the operator to ask if we could pick the scooters up an hour late (at 11.00 instead of 10.00 in the morning). It was at that point that the operator told us that the scooters should never have been offered at that price on Book Me, and that they couldn't honour the discounted price. They said they could, however, hire out e-bikes at that price. We agreed. When we got round to hiring the e-bikes the people were helpful and friendly, but the bikes honestly weren't up to much. One of them had a flat battery, and had to be replaced within about 10 kilometres. They came out to us and brought us a new bike promptly, so full marks for customer service there. The replacement bike was actually great, but the other bike (which hadn't been replaced) turned out to also have a pretty weak battery, and it struggled to climb hills, which made riding around Waiheke tricky. Overall, the experience was okay, but not great.
