If you'd like to experience skiing or snowboarding for the first time, or you are an expert looking for easy access to some fantastic and challenging terrain, Porters is a great place to start, with facilities for all levels of skiing and riding.

The main ski field boasts a new quad chairlift plus 3 upper level T bars which provide easy access and challenge for all levels.

Recently landscaping and redevelopment of the lower slopes now mean the Porters has the best learners and intermediate transitional area anywhere in Canterbury. It’s an ideal ski resort to learn to ski for the first time.

Our generous and modern 120 seat café offers a wide of tasty treats, lunch menu and a wide range of hot drinks including our legendary coffee and hot chocolates.

The Porters Community Park has undergone more development, offering a great training ground for those looking to develop their freestyle skills.

Porters have always taken pride in offering a superb experience for families.

We have excellent value starter packs, including ski/board hire, lessons and easy beginner lifts.

For the intermediate skier or boarder, Porters offers a huge variety of runs accessed by three T-bars, with groomed trails accessible from top to bottom. The more advanced skier or snowboarder will enjoy The Big Mama. With 620 vertical metres that is bound to get the legs burning.

For steeper slopes, then Bluff Face offers 38 degrees of pitch.

An awesome breath-taking panorama awaits at the top of the ridge with stunning views of the Southern Alps the South and West and Lake Coleridge at your feet.

$59 for one ski slope

Unfortunately I arrived on a windy day and all but one ski trail were closed, not counting the training lift. The chair lift slope was okay. It was a one to two minutes ascend, while the chair lift ride was about 5 minutes long. What I didn't like was that some parts of the trail were frozen which made skiing uncomfortable and scary. I managed to come down the T lift trails once before they got closed because of the wind. They were pretty cool.
