If you want to discover the real New Zealand with a complete Maori Cultural experience, He Tangata has been established to proudly showcase Maori history, traditions and stories at Nga Hau e Wha Marae, combined with the delicacy of kaimoana.
Start your journey delving into the Maori culture with a traditional Powhiri (traditional welcoming ceremony) as you assemble onto the grounds of New Zealand's only National Marae (traditional meeting place) and into the Wharenui where you will take a fascinating guided tour learning all about the history and stories of its great ancestors.
You will then be treated to amazing Maori Performances bought to life by light and technology, song/dance and showcasing the fierce Haka!
You'll be invited to dine in a Hakari (feast) made up of amazing New Zealand cuisine and beautiful Hangi while watching an explosive Kapa Haka Performance. Then tantalise your taste buds with an exquisite array of premium Kaimoana (seafood) which may include Crayfish, Paua, Kina, and Oysters!

Super moment!
Ça a vraiment été une découverte géniale, ils ont ouverts début décembre 2018 et mettent vraiment du cœur et de la passion dans ce qu'ils font, le Marae est magnifique, c'est le plus grand au monde et le seul national! L'équipe est aux petits soins et les chants et danses nous ont collés des frissons! La nourriture est vraiment excellente et en abondance!!! On n'a pas pu finir ? et les représentations continuent tout au long du dîner, on a même pu s'initier au Poï Sur scène avec eux!! Vraiment une expérience a ne pas rater si vous passez par Christchurch!!!

Great experience!
I had a great Maori experience at Te Hangata! It is incredible to feel the energy and the passion of the performers and highly interesting to learn about this culture. The seafood platter is big, maybe consider booking one for two people. But don't hesitate in booking this experience, it's awesome!
