Your flight will take off close to the foothills of Mt. Hutt, where the mountains provide excellent shelter from the North Westerly winds. Experience fantastic views across the Southern Alps as far away as Mt. Cook and Mt. Aspiring with unlimited airspace restrictions up to 9,500ft! Along the way, enjoy the Eastern views as well patchwork landscape of the plains to the Pacific Coast!
After take-off you’ll climb to an altitude perfect for awesome panoramic views across the mountains, after you’ve had time to capture the views, you’ll descend to a lower altitude for the second half of the flight to enjoy a different aspect by flying closer to the ground.
Upon landing, enjoy a celebratory drink in the landing field before travelling back to Methven in the chase vehicle, which will have been following the balloon throughout the flight.
Methven is a winter ski town, with an abundance of attractions including mountain walks and the Lord of the Rings site at Mt. Sunday! For your scenic flight, you’ll be transported from the meeting point in Methven to the launch site - the meeting point has ample parking and toilets.

Warm & Enthusiastic
We had a wonderful hot air balloon ride and loved every moment of it. Watching the sunrise from above was magical, and the scenery was stunning. The team was very organized, friendly, and made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. Definitely one of the best experiences we’ve had!

An Unforgettable 45th Birthday at 7,000 Feet!
What an incredible trip for my 45th birthday. Not only was the flight to 7,000 feet breathtakingly peaceful, but we actually got to help with the setup and pack-up of the balloon! Being part of the 'crew' and seeing how it all works from the ground up made the experience so much more immersive and fun. The crew and pilot were top-notch, and the stunning views made this a birthday I’ll never forget. Thank you for such a wonderful adventure!

Ticked off the bucket list
Wow what an experience! If you get the chance don't over think about it. Graeme is a very friendly, skilled pilot. I love how we were involved in inflation of the balloon. Once we were up in the air it was so peaceful. We went through the clouds and flew manged to see Mount cook and the views were amazing. We then lowered and flew over the patterned fields. The landing was smooth and we then helped back up. To finish we had champagne and a muffins.An experience I will never forget..I just wished I had left it so long. Thank you Graeme and your team.

Mega nettes Team
Wir haben ein wenig später angefangen aufgrund des Wetters. Kommunikation hat immer gestimmt, die Veranstalter hatten einen guten Humor und es hat sich nicht angefühlt wie Host und Customer sondern wie eine Team Aktivität. Man nimmt richtig Teil am aufbauen und abbauen und das Gefühl dann endlich abzuheben und diesen fantastischen Ausblick zu haben ist unbezahlbar!!! Ich empfehle es jeden, der nach einem neuen Nervenkitzel sucht und die Ruhe und friedliche eines entspannten Ausblicks während des Fluges Wertschätzt. It’s definitely worth it!!!
