Kaikoura - 2.5 hour Seal Swim

Add to List

Snorkelling with wild New Zealand Fur Seals, in the shallow waters of the beaufiful Kaikoura Peninsula. A very very rare unique experience, anywhere in the world.

Seal Swim Kaikoura invites you to join their family team for an experience of a lifetime!

Swimming with free and untamed New Zealand Fur Seals along the Kaikoura Coast is one of the most incredible wildlife encounters in the world. So graceful, so close!

Their underwater antics and natural curiosity will leave you with a renewed appreciation for these fun loving creatures.

The full length wetsuits provided will help keep you warm and also provide the same buoyancy as a life jacket so you don't have to be a confident swimmer or snorkeler. Our knowledgeable crew have been guiding travellers here since 1987. It will feel good to know that you have the world's most experienced guides with you, to answer questions, teach you how to snorkel and even hold your hand if you want! It won't take long for them to build your confidence!

The pristine bays of the stunning Kaikoura Peninsula is where you'll be taken on the short boat trip and with the beautiful Coastal Kaikoura Rangers as a back drop you'll spend up to an hour swimming and getting to know these playful puppy dogs of the sea. Alternatively, you can stay on the boat and watch others entertain the seals.

You'll need to allow around 2.5 hours for the tour.

This tour is highly recommended, has received numerous awards as has even been featured on the Getaway Travel Show. It really is a Must Do for your New Zealand travels.

Best seal swim ever

I loved it very much, and we were so lucky to see so many seal at once. The view under water wasn't that good in the beginning, but after 30min the sun was shining through and the visibility becam much better. The seals were swimming around our boat, it was really lovely :-)

Good tour with friendly guides.

The tour was good fun, unfortunately we didnt have great conditions but ended up getting refunded half the cost due to this. The tour still went ahead and you could tell the staff really cared about giving you a great experience and were very respectful of the seals at the same time. Would probably have been an automatic 5 had the conditions been better and we had had the full experience but it’s not their fault and there can be no gaurenteeing the conditions on a tour like this! Thanks for your efforts though and recommend this tour!

Great Experience!

We were just 5 people on the tour which made it very intimate. The seals were kinda lazy in the morning but that gave us enough time to take a closer look. The crew is really nice and everthing is explained really Well!
