Horatiu Petrescu said... Firstly, my expectations of this was that I would be rowing for 3 hours on a kayak and I will be cold, since it’s the middle of winter. However, the whole experience went really fast and was extremely enjoyable. The tranquility of being on the water, with the fantastic Kaikoura mountains backdrop and feeling completely safe on the water thanks to our guide, was a magical and surreal experience. Levi (our guide) was excellent at keeping us dry (even pushed and pulled the kayaks in and out of water with us in them) and warm by providing waterproof and windproof jackets. He was talking photos of us throughout the kayak trip, providing local information about Kaikoura and even giving us tips on where to have the best seafood in town. We saw many seals and one of them even came as close as 1m from us in the water. Also, I can’t emphasize enough how easy it was to use Levi’s state of the art paddle kayaks (only paddle kayaks in NZ!). This made the trip effortless and so enjoyable.
