Join our group tour of Otago Harbour on our latest vessel, "Adagio" Fast, safe, and comfortable, you will see more of our beautiful harbour with its extensive history and abundant wildlife.
Your skipper and guide will give you a commentary along the way, pointing out places of interest and facts about the wildlife you will encounter.
The main attraction, of course, is the albatross colony at Taiaroa Head at the entrance to the harbour. Watch as these magnificent birds glide along the cliff faces and swoop down along the waves, sometimes beside the boat. An experience not to be missed.
Itinerary
- Depart Back Beach, Port Chalmers
- Halfway Islands including Quarantine Island and Goat Island
- Careys Bay, then Otakou the site of the 1st Maori settlement, then Wellers Rock site of the Weller bros whaling station
- Taiaroa Head, the home of the albatross colony and return to Back Beach

Awesome
It was such a great boat trip with Rob ! We were a small group, really friendly, and we got to hear some little stories about the harbor and the area in general. My favorite part was definitely the wildlife watching, we saw two species of albatross, seals, and other birds ! I was so happy! Overall, it was a really lovely experience. Don’t hesitate to go, it’s totally worth it !

Great day on the water
Had a great time with Rob, very knowledgeable about the area, history and wildlife. Comfortable boat with lots of seating with indoor seating downstairs and the upstairs covered flybridge, where you can get more elevated viewing. There was a bit of a swell around by the albatross colony, however Rob ensured everyone was ok with it. We were lucky enough to see an Albatross fly and the youngsters testing their wings. Also a Sea lion on the rocks. Thanks again Rob for a great out and answering all our questions.

Albatross cruise
Good cruise experience to see the wildlife and albatross . The captain as well as the guide is very informative and provide detailed explanation and history of different points of interests. Thanks for that.

Great wildlife tour
Rob was extremely helpful and informative throughout the trip. We had a wonderful time and saw albatross nesting and flying, royal spoonbills and a sea lion eating an octapus. As well as fur seals and cormorants. A great experience.
