Take a journey of discovery through Māori history while stargazing under the magical night skies of the Otago Peninsula...
The Otago Peninsula coastline is known for its clear and breath-taking views of the night sky, coupled with its unique celestial features and fascinating ties with Māori history and heritage.
Come with us as we journey to this unique location, stopping first at different points of interest before settling in at our night viewing location.
Nothing beats sitting under the beautiful Southern night sky with a blanket and hearing nothing but the sounds of coastal birds in the background. Your expert guide will take you on a journey of discovery, pointing out the unique celestial features of the Southern sky, while sharing stories and waiata (songs) about how Māori viewed the night sky.
You can also make use of our Skywatcher telescope for a closer look - it has a maximum practical magnification of 200x! To top it all off, enjoy a light supper with hot drink under the stars - you can even try a traditional tea spiced with kawakawa, horopito or manuka!
