Discover the magic of the wild with The Opera Dunedin's Penguin and Wildlife Tour
Learn about the rarest penguin in the world, the hoiho (yellow-eyed penguin) and experience the best possibility to view one of these endangered birds. We will begin with an overview of the work we are doing to help save the hoiho and care for all living species at The OPERA. Guests will then be guided through our reserve which is home to numerous native plant and wildlife species including the hoiho and kororā (little penguins), fur seals, sea lions, and several species of sea and forest birds. Finally, when penguins are in our care, guests will visit our Penguin Rehabilitation Center, where they can see these rare birds up close. .

This is a great way to support the endangered penguins of NZ and a great experience too.
We were lucky to be the only ones on the boat, so a private tour four a budget price. Great info, Rob went out of his way to find us some albatros. Nice boattour.
This isn't a zoo experience or anything out of this world. It's a center that needs support. It isn't a very hopeful situation for the penguins but im sure every dollar counts. The people there are optimistic and truly trying which is what matters to me in the end but don't expect to see much.
Nice to see the work that’s done for wildlife and we were lucky to see both seals and one yellow eyed pingvin in the wild.
