Kia ora Mark, We are so glad that you found the trail so enjoyable! It truly is a special area to experience and ride through. While the sun is great, I personally love the rain and mist when it rolls in, it really adds to the atmosphere. Thank you for taking the time to write this review, we really appreciate it. We hope to see you again sometime in the future. Nga mihi, Elijah
Great experience
Thanks for the 5 star review Aryan! Glad you had such an awesome experience, we hope to see you again soon! Alex @ Wildfinder
Customer service on point and E-bikes safe and easy to use esp for the younger ones. Highly recommend.
Thank you so much for the positive review Patricia! We're so glad you enjoyed the experience. Cheers, Elijah
Maybe we had set our expectations too high, but the day ended as a disappointment. First, we had booked 4 bikes at 12pm but we had to wait 30 minutes because the bikes were not ready. It was because of the previous guests being late on their way back, nothing the organiser could do but still, not a great start. Then, one of our e-bike had very little assistance. We didn't notice it on the way to the summit because it's a gentle climb, but on the other side the bike was just inadequate. We ended up pushing it up the hill for the last 2km. Adding insult to injury, the rider was the smallest / less strong of the group, which means they struggled and when we swapped bikes the other riders were like on a kid's bike. Finally, on another bike the organiser decided not to recharge / swap the battery for us, saying 4 out of 5 bars was enough to go to the Cross creek car park and back, but it wasn't. The bike shut off before we arrived to the summit.
Hi Yannick, Thank you for leaving this review, we're so sorry that you had a bad experience with Wildfinder. Our main priority is for guests to have a great time whilst they're out on the trail, and unfortunately we fell short on this occassion. We'd love to make this up to you - please could you email me at [email protected] and we can shout you some free vouchers to use next time? We'd love the opportunity to put this right for you, so you can properly enjoy the trail. Best wishes, Alex Buckley General Manager

Excellent Ride, Great Scenery
We rode in rain, and it didn't matter, just added to the atmosphere. Unlike most "rail trails" this one is almost always on a tight curve, so the view is always changing. Cuttings with almost vertical sides carved through rock, that are now huge moss covered walls. Plenty of waterfalls to see, and a river keeps popping into view. A really fun "hanging bridge", so good we crossed it back and forth a few times. The trail is steep for a train track, 15% for 5 km at one point, and this is an out and back ride, so e Bike strongly recommended unless you are super fit. Some story boards along the way tell you the history of the railway and the people that lived there. You know its a fun ride when you are grinning even after 3 hours of riding in the rain. Sunshine would make it a superb day out.
