Michael Scaroni said... Our Franz Joseph and Fox Glacier flight was excellent. The pilot, helicopter and itinerary that was amended for safety reasons were without fault.
The administration was not.
From time of booking until day of flight, they initiated contact only to remind me about the $20 fuel surcharge.
I found out by asking them that you could arrive at their counter on the day of flight and they could simply say that they were cancelling the flight because there were less than 4 passengers.
This is deliberately not shown in the upfront booking information.
When questioned they say they would give a full refund without giving a time frame.
Most passengers would probably be overseas tourists who cannot then wait around for days in case of availability, at their own extra financial and time cost.
They still show flight availability for days of 100% rain probability where there will be no flights.
We got onto our prebooked flight by pure luck because 3 people booked onto that flight at 3pm the day before and then the weather held long enough for our flight to procede.
