Welcome to Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools & Spa.
Relaxing rock pools, soothing sulphur pools, cascading pools, and an array of water jets and bubbles - at a range of temperatures.
For the kids (and kids at heart!) we have four hydroslides, including New Zealand’s longest waterslide, Conical Thrill, activity pools and a lazy river.
We're excited to introduce the debut of Violet Vortex and Waiau Winder. These innovative slides have taken the place of our cherished older beige and green slides. Our latest slides feature cutting-edge LED lighting and projection technology, enhancing the thrill factor and crafting a unique adventure!
Entry price includes all outdoor pools and slides.

A Perfect Relaxing Getaway!
Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools and Spa is an absolute gem! The pools are beautifully maintained, with the perfect mix of relaxing thermal pools, fun water slides, and family-friendly areas. The mountain views and fresh air make the whole experience incredibly calming. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and the facilities were spotless — everything from the changing rooms to the cafes felt well cared for. I especially enjoyed the natural mineral pools; they’re so soothing after a long week. Whether you’re here for a peaceful soak, a fun day out with family, or a bit of pampering at the spa, Hanmer Springs never disappoints. I’ll definitely be coming back again! 🌿💧

I took 2 US family members to the pool one morning. We were all marvelously relaxed after this, enjoying a hot shower afterwards. A very special way to spend a morning.

Disappointing
Was easy to book but on arrival venue had entry at cheaper price so cost me more to pre book Waste of time and won't do it again

Ahead of Labour Weekend, Hanmer Springs and the wider Hurunui district experienced a severe windstorm that caused significant damage. To help encourage day visitors back to town and show that Hanmer Springs was open for business, we offered a special discounted rate for tickets purchased on the day at our reception. We do understand this may have been frustrating for guests who had pre-purchased tickets at the standard rate. Unfortunately, we aren’t able to adjust prices retrospectively, but please know that online tickets are valid for 12 months and can be used at any time within that period. Good for families, but building going on
Fun for families. Changing facilities good. Gardens pretty and everywhere tidy. However, there always seems to be an area closed, this time the therapy pool &one of the sulphur areas - a horrible smell of solvents around. No signs saying what was closed before you go in or buy your ticket. Don't set your expectations too high - worth a discounted entry, but I'd not pay full price for it.

Kia ora Sarah, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re pleased to hear you enjoyed the facilities, gardens, and family-friendly atmosphere during your visit. You’re absolutely right that there is some redevelopment work underway at the moment. The sulphur pools are currently closed for approximately four weeks while we install a new cold plunge pool and give the area a well-deserved refresh — including updated tiling, garden improvements, and safety enhancements such as reconfigured steps and relocated water fountains. As part of this project, the pools are also being re-fibre glassed as part of our routine maintenance programme. To minimise disruption to guests, we’ve had to periodically close parts of the Aqua Therapy area due to construction noise, dust, and odour. While we understand this can be disappointing, this period was our only available window in a busy year to complete such important upgrades. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to improve the experience for all our visitors. We’re confident the upgrades will make the area even more enjoyable on your next visit. Ngā mihi,

One of my favourite places
A must do if you’re in the area! Love the variety of pools and there’s a great amount for kids too. The hot pools and scenery will make you feel absolutely on holiday (even if you live in Canterbury!). The slides are so much fun for kids and adults and the lazy river is a dream. There’s a section too for little ones. The staff are always friendly and the facilities are lovely and clean. The cafe is great - love that you can go up in your togs without worrying about getting dressed and there’s also a grass area if you want to bring a picnic. Honestly, if I could I’d go so much more often. Absolutely love it!
