Join your local tour guide, Ness, for a fantastic evening exploring the Tawharanui Bird Sanctuary, home to the New Zealand Kiwi!

AMAZING TOUR!!!

Great tour guide Ness who shares her enthusiasm for the hard-to-find Kiwi species. We were extremely lucky to get a close encounter with a large female kiwi for ~10 mins. As a New Zealander I never knew I could get so close, and so close to Auckland! Complete with hot Milo and delicious cookies, Ness puts on a good show and a very memorable tour. Thank you so much!

After Dark

Thanks for a great trip last night Vanessa. I would normally go home before dark and miss the best time in the park. Amazing to see the brown teal duck with her ducklings so close. You tried so hard for us to see the kiwis. They were there but not showing themselves this time. Enjoyed the experience regardless.

Close up Kiwis

The tour started a little slowly with regard to sightings, but towards the end we were sitting watching kiwis going about their business from a couple of meters away. Without our guide we would never have spotted them.
