Take a short 15 minutes boat ride from Te Anau Lakefront across Lake Te Anau to Brod Bay (located on the Kepler Track). Enjoy the Kepler Track for a steady 2.5 hours on an easy walking trail, then following the lakefront through native bush, linking up to the Te Anau Bird Park. Walking past the Bird Sanctuary will then take you back to your starting point on the Te Anau lakefront in town. Easy day walk suitable for all the family.
Enjoy the stunning scenery and New Zealand nature, perfect for couples, groups of friends and families.
Take a leisurely afternoon stroll from Brod bay back to Te Anau. Locally know as 10km around the bay this is a stunning afternoon walk for all abilities.
Please wear suitable clothing and sturdy shoes for hiking. Great to being snacks/lunch and take your time on this beautiful walk.
Itinerary
- 2:30pm depart from Te Anau Lake Front by boat (please be there ready 10 minutes prior)
- 2:45pm approx. arrival at Brod Bay
- 2:45 - 5:30pm stroll back to Te Anau at your leisure taking in the stunning bush, lake vistas and native birds. Following the lake round back to your starting point, on the lakefront in the main Te Anau town area.

Beautiful Walk
The watertaxi collected us from Te Anau for a quick boat ride across the lake. The entrance to the track from the beach is beautiful. The track back to Te Anau was an easy walk with stunning scenery. Really enjoyed it.
