Launch the Big Kanu at Lake McLaren and paddle through the tranquil waters toward the head of the lake.
While paddling, look up at the canyon walls to discover hundreds of Glowworms lit up like stars. Our guides will teach you about the life cycle and peculiarities of the Glowworms. Our tour is designed to leave at the perfect hour to experience the full luminescent glow from the Glowworms.

This tour departs from Lake McLaren in the Lower Kaimai ranges- directions to the meeting point will be given upon booking. We do not provide transport to the meeting site for this tour.

great experience at the glow-worm tour
Our tour guides Bella and Henry were fantastic. It was the perfect night for this adventure. So peaceful and a lot of glow worms to see.

A Unique Experience
This was a very unique experience which both my wife and I really enjoyed. Our guides, Keira and Uchie were very friendly, knowledgable and helpful. We would very much recommend this night time adventure

Personally top 5 tourist things I’ve done in NZ.
The Evening Glowworm Kayak Tour was magical! Initially had a wee issue with the booking but that was swiftly resolved no issues at all. The activity itself was so lovely, I’ve never experienced anything like it, night time kayaking, so relaxing, the weather was great, night sky was so clear that you could see all the stars and the Milky Way, and the glowworms were stunning! To top it all off, our guides Jack and Ollie were absolute champions! Hilarious blokes that prioritised safety but had such awesome outgoing personality and great sense of humour which made the experience a whole lot more memorable! Loved the little taste of the food we got too!
