We made a real effort to get to Hanmer travelling over some steep hills from Kaikoura towing a large caravan which was a slow journey. The pools were great to soak in and could see they had great fun features for children but as two adults I m not sure we saw the merit in the travel. They did feel like most other hot pools and seemed to be mostly around same temperature 37degrees. Sulphuric ones hotter slightly, and then really cold ones also. We were not keen on jet boating or any other activities in Hanmer sadly. Built in prices for the tourist industry everywhere meant Hanmer was probably not our favourite destination. When we travelled on to Christchurch we realised in New Brighton area there was a complex of around four lovely hot pools so could have soaked there!! We ran out of time with all the places to see and activities around Christchurch but we can tick Hanmer off the list and say we’ve been there!
Lovely morning checking out the various pools. It was school holidays but there were enough different pools to not free crowded. The teens and husband enjoyed the slides while I enjoyed relaxing in the thermal and mineral water pools.
I went there with my son yesterday it was awesome very relaxing
