Embark on a Legacy Guided Tour of Whakarewarewa, the iconic living Māori village led by direct descendants of New Zealand's early Māori guides as they share unique insights, knowledge, and hospitality.

See first hand how life revolved around natural geothermal resources for cooking, bathing, and heating homes. You'll also witness the awe-inspiring geothermal wonders of Whakarewarewa Geothermal Valley, from the iconic Pōhutu geyser to the bubbling mud-pools and steam vents, gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges and traditions inherent in living within a geothermal plateau.

Self Guided Geothermal Walk:

Have the exclusive opportunity to explore the untouched natural landscape via our new geothermal walking trails. Experience the stunning beauty of colorful steaming lakes and bubbling mud pools amidst native manuka bushland, engaging all your senses as you traverse these unique paths.

Cultural Performance:

You'll have a once in a lifetime experience of Maori history and legends through a range of traditional song and dance, including the powerful 'Haka', which is world famous, along with Poi, and Ti Rakau (stick). Each captivating performance uses song, dance and traditional games to bring the Maori culture to life.

Along with this you'll also delve into the rich heritage of the Tūhourangi Ngāti Wāhiao people as they share their stories, myths, and legends passed down through the generations.

    Booking Time: Please note you are booking for the Living Maori Village Tour. Tour times are 9am, 10am, 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm & 3pm.From 1st May tour times will be 9am, 10am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm & 3pm, NO 12pm guided tour.

    Cultural Performance Time:11.15am, approximately 30 minutes additional performance times are added during summer.From 1st May our daily performance will be at 12.30pm.

    Geothermal Trails (Self -Guided): Approximately 1 1.5 hours, can be experienced at any time between 9am & 4pm.
