Kindred Spirit - Lake Taupo & Maori Rock Carving Cruise

Escape the hectic of life and experience the beauty of the lake and the Māori Rock Carvings on Lake Taupō's largest charter yacht Kindred Spirit with superior comfort

Highlights

  • Relax on the largest charter yacht on Lake Taupō - “Kindred Spirit” - on a cruise to the iconic Māori Rock Carvings
  • Enjoy superior comfort with a large deck space and a lounge under deck for up to 12 people.
  • Soak up spectacular views over Lake Taupō, Te Kopua and Acacia Bays
  • Jump in the water and have a swim - the longest swim stop of any other company!
  • Enjoy free pizza and beverages on some departures - or purchase light refreshments on-board

Come on board and experience the beauty of a scenic sailing tour to the Māori Rock Carvings, one of the most extraordinary contemporary carvings in the world. Only view-able from the water, the likeness of Ngātoroirangi towers 14-meters above Lake Taupō, surrounded by over 40 smaller carvings.

Escape from hectic life for a while and enjoy the breathtaking views around. Listen to our experienced skippers and learn about the history of the lake. Give the crew a hand hoisting the sails and take a turn on the wheel or just snuggle under some blankets and enjoy the wide selection of drinks.

Kindred Spirit sails under full sails as much as possible or gently meanders, when it is truly calm, by a quite inboard diesel engine.

Take a dip and swim in the crystal-clear waters of the largest freshwater lake in Australasia. We offer the longest swim stop out of any company on the lake (weather dependent)!

There is a bathroom and changing room facilities on board.

Amazing experience

We grabbed an amazing deal off Book Me however I'd be more then happy to pay full price for this experience again. Amazing local knowledge of the area by crew. The crew and other passengers on board would have to have been the best group of people I've been around in a very long time. We will definitely be back and we would highly recommended it to everybody we know and see. Fantastic job crew

Best experience of my NZ holiday

We booked on my a few hours before setting sail for the sunset cruise. Dave and Jess were brilliant, they are the working operators of the Barbary. The pizza was great, the drink choices were plenty. But to just experience the travel under sail, powered only by the wind was surreal. Dave did multiple circuits in front of the carvings to allow each side of the vessel to have some good pics, even allowing those that wanted, their own titanic moment up the front. Sailing back to dock, as the sun sets over the lake, with nothing but the wind powering us home. Picture opportunities aplenty. The best v aslue for money experience of my time in New Zealand.

Hi Kerryn, it was great to have you on board and lovely talk to you. It's amazing to hear that you consider us to be the best experience of your time in New Zealand. Although you got a bit mixed up with the boat name as you were on Kindred Spirit ;) We are happy that we could show you that sailing isn't scary, even if the boat leans over a bit. I love the photos you put up. Thank you for sharing with us. Enjoy your holiday Dave and Jess

Chill and beautiful :)

Jess and Dave have the most beautiful boat from Taupo! We just laid on the deck, chilling in the sun and enjoying the view. They gave some information about the lake, volcanos and offcourse the rock drawings. It was super chill and we enjoyed it a lot :)

Kia ora Helen, thank you for this awesome review. It means the world to us to get a feedback like that. It was great to see how enthusiastic Alisa talked about sharks and marine life. Tell her, to follow her passion and one day, she can be a marine biologist. All the best for you Dave and Jess
