Our group included a German exchange student, a four and 2 year old and grandmother. We all enjoyed the experience and coped pretty well with all the up and down steps.. the smell and boiling mud and steam. We went early and dressed warmly, but got very hot with the heat of the ground, and the sun.. something i hadn't really expected. But overall it was great 👍
Absolutely incredible place that was a highlight of our NZ trip. So quiet and peaceful, such beautiful walks. Loved the tree signs and info. Great thermal views. Great cafe.
I actually didn't use this booking due to a separation and having to meet with real estate agents. I did contact Orakai via email without receiving a reply, which was a shame considering the circumstances. I have wanted to visit for a while and had taken time off work when I planned this day out. The low rating is due to the company not responding to my email only, I would still like to visit when I can at a later date.
A great way to while away a couple of hours watching this amazing planet we live on do its thing. A short trip across the river, that runs every 10 minutes, takes you to a leisurely walk with a lot of steps if you do the whole route. The route takes you mainly along boardwalks travelling directly through the silica fields. We loved it. Although we didn’t stay the freedom camping looked great.
