Climb to the summit through the lava fields for epic views of the Hauraki Gulf, explore lava caves and the ship graveyard where 13 ships were abandoned between 1887 and 1947.
A causeway connects Rangitoto to Motutapu allowing you to walk between these two islands.

Lava Caves - Add on 45 minutes for this diversion from the Summit Track clearly marked with signs. Bring a torch if you want to explore inside the twisting tunnel!

Fullers Ferry was great, they were helpful with amending our tickets. The Bookme website is not great when booking the day before. They did not have up to date sailing times. So we couldn't go when we wanted to, Good saving on ticket price however. And the island was great to walk up and around in plenty of time to catch the last ferry back on the weekend.
We really enjoyed our time at Rangitoto Island. The walk was amazing with incredible views. The ferry was nice.
Great fullers team from ticket service to docking.
The best value you can get to Rangitoto - no issues at all. Iโd just definitely advise to arrive in good time if youโre booking short notice so they have time to sort your tickets and get you onto the boat.

must visit
Rangitoto Island is one of those magical places that I could visit again and again, each time finding something new. Whether it's the views from its summit, the lava caves, its unique flora or its eclectic batches with their lava gardens, there's something to immerse yourself in. Not to mention, it will keep you fit!
