Experience the thrill of playing detective in Murder in Devonport – Outdoor Murder Mystery Game, a self-guided Cluedo-style adventure that turns the picturesque seaside village of Devonport into your very own crime scene!
Play the role of a detective in this murder mystery adventure and wander through the picturesque seaside village, hunt for hidden clues, crack clever riddles, and piece together an intriguing storyline that unfolds across its historic streets, leafy parks, and scenic waterfront!
The story unfolds with the shocking discovery of Mr. Adrian Clarke, a well-known Auckland architect, found dead on Mount Victoria. Clarke’s ambitious plan to transform Devonport with sleek towers and modern apartments divided the tight-knit community—some hailed it as progress, others called it betrayal.
As tensions rise, old friendships fracture, and rumours of corruption, revenge, and secret dealings begin to swirl through the quaint streets. Players will follow an immersive storyline, solving riddles, piecing together evidence, and exploring Devonport’s historic parks, waterfront, and heritage buildings to uncover the truth behind the murder.
With twelve suspects, five possible weapons, and a tangled web of motives, every clue counts. Perfect for friends, couples, or families who love a challenge, this interactive outdoor experience blends mystery, exploration, and local history into one unforgettable day out. Will you be clever enough to crack the case and bring the killer to justice?
We had fun searching out the street art and going to parts of Devonport we hadn’t been to before. It probably would’ve been more engaging if it was a little more difficult to solve the problems, but we had fun. We were gutted that we couldn’t see our position on the leader board as we are quite competitive! I think there was a fault there. Highly recommend Devonport Gelato as part of this activity!
Nice, fun, outdoor activity with the grandchildren.
We had done the Wellington Murder trail and thought we'd do this one a little closer to home. Although there weren't the puzzles like the Wellington game, it was a lovely way to explore Devonport and see some great artwork that we may not have seen otherwise. A great way to spend a lazy afternoon during the school holidays.
We had fun doing this trail.

OLIWIL loved it.
We thought it was a fun activity for kids and “old kids” to amuse themselves in the school holidays. We did have a problem with the first clue, not being from Devonport, sorting out the old Post Office as a notice in the old Borough Council Building on the left by the Hotel said it was the Old Post Office. Once we got the hint all went well.
