Delicious Curries, But Bring a Jacket
Tried Saigon Sister Riccarton on the Friday night and came away with mixed feelings. The food was easily the standout — we ordered the Fresh Spring Rolls, Crapy Squid for entrees and Red Curry and Vietnamese Curry for mains, and both the mains were packed with flavour, nicely balanced, and had a satisfying kick of spice 🌶️. Definitely dishes I’d go back for. That said, the overall dining experience didn’t quite match the quality of the food. The restaurant is set in an older villa, which gives it character, but it also felt quite cold inside. Without proper heating, it got uncomfortable — I wasn’t even wearing socks and my feet were freezing most of the time, which distracted from the meal. In short: fantastic food, but the ambiance and warmth could use some attention to make the experience more enjoyable.

Hidden Gem
Saigon Sister Riccarton is a literal hidden gem operating out of a repurposed house on Mandeville Street. There's a lot to love here from the cosy surrounds and family-run vibes through to some seriously flavoursome fare - the beef Pho and Vietnamese curry are epic (as is the sensibly priced wine list), while the hot or iced authentic Vietnamese coffees are a great way to finish your feast!

Absolutely stunning
This was amazing! I had the beef pho and it was incredible. For dessert, I had the caramel cheesecake and was treated to an extra scoop of ice cream from the owner. She is an absolute treasure and her hospitality was fault-less. I'm going back again tonight ☺️ What a blessing it is to have beautiful food like this in NZ. Thank you so much for a very memorable experience
