The Bay of Islands is home to some of the most spectacular scenic sights both on and off the water - why not experience the best of both worlds on this fantastic 3.5 hour Walk and Paddle combo!
Starting from our Waitangi Beach base, you'll enjoy a walk (unguided) through gorgeous native bush, bridges and boardwalks along the enchanting Haruru Falls walking track.
The track is 5kms long and takes approximately 2 hours to complete at a leisurely pace.
Your guide will meet your at the end of the track where you will embark on an unforgettable paddle from the base of the Haruru falls, down the historic Waitangi Inlet and back to our beach base.
Throughout the day you will be exposed to breathtaking scenic views and a diverse range of marine and wildlife in their natural habitat.
Your will also learn about the rich local history and Māori legends along the way.
Your friendly guide will capture photos of your experience, which will be available online in high resolution for you to download, at no extra cost!
This tour takes approximately 3.5hrs all up, and is suitable for beginners right through to experienced paddlers. Please note that the walking track requires a medium level of fitness.

Great trip
I had a really nice time on the trip. The walk was nice and easy. The kayaking was really good. It was nice to relax and see some cool things. Molly was very knowledgeable

Walk & Kayaking Tour - Coastal Kayakers
Really can't say enough about how much fun this tour was. We did the Hauru Falls Walk followed by kayak back to base camp in Paihia a couple of days ago. Great trip. Our guide Chad was fantastic....thanks Chad. Highly recommend this to anyone wanting a good 1/2 day out to see the waterways and falls in Paihia. Thanks Coastal Kayakers.

Relaxing and peaceful
Chad is a very friendly and chatty guide. Nothing was too much trouble and he helped with every query. Would highly recommend the walk and kayak combo as best of both worlds. Try to time your trip with a high tide to explore mangrove colony.

Wonderful experience!
I had walked the track many times before I booked the Walk & Paddle Tour with Coastal Kayakers and I had enjoyed it every single time, especially the boardwalk through the beautiful mangrove forest. It was something completely different to take in the scenery in a kayak on the Waitangi river and absolutely worth the experience! The service at Coastal Kayakers was fantastic and our tour guides clearly loved their work. Thank you!

Wonderful time with Coastal Kayakers
Great walk to the falls. Easy and beautiful through the mangrove forest. You end up at the falls where you start your kayaking trip. You get up close and personal with the falls and then kayak back to the office. It was really nice and the guide is very patient and knows all about the area you paddle through. We saw plenty of birds on the way. You receive pictures for free at the end of your trip which is very nice. I recommend!
