Enjoy a stop at Otehei Bay on the Department of Conservation’s recreation reserve Urupukapuka Island, where you will learn about the natural ecosystems being restored as part of the Project Island Song programme including revegetation, native species reintroduction, education and biosecurity.
Explore the island via the established tracks and spot reintroduced native wildlife including tīeke (North Island saddleback), toutouwai (North Island robin), pāteke (brown teal), Wētāpunga (giant wētā) and more.
Make the most of the day with the opportunity to snorkel and swim, if conditions permit, or enjoy a bite to eat in the sun and relax at the fully licensed café at Otehei Bay on Urupukapuka Island.

Delfine in Sicht!
Es war eine wilde Fahrt auf etwas unruhigem Wasser. Die Reiseleitung sehr freundlich und durchweg in Englisch, was hier vorausgesetzt wird, uns aber Probleme bereitet. Daher war die Naturstation für uns auch nicht besonders anschaulich und wir haben während des Insel-Aufenthalts lieber am Strand gesessen, mit einem Getränk aus der nahen Strandbar, und die Sonne genossen. Die Delfine haben wir gesucht (das Boot hat mehrfach gekreuzt) und auch gefunden - ein tolles Erlebnis! Alles in allem ein wunderbarer Ausflug.

Super Tour
Ich kann diese Tour uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen. Unser Skipper Farty war super witzig und hat zuerst überprüft ob jeder Fahrgast englische Grundkenntnisse besitzt damit man den Anweisungen der Crew auch folgen kann. Nachdem wir abgelegt haben, haben wir nach etwa 20 Minuten direkt Delphine gefunden und konnten diese fotografieren. Mit ihnen schwimmen ging leider nicht da bei den Delphine Babys waren. Danach sind wir zu einem Felsen gefahren auf welchem Seeroben gelegen haben. Hiernach sind wir zu dem berühmten "Hole in the Rock" gefahren. Dies gehörte eigentlich gar nicht zu der gebuchten Tour und war dadurch noch mal etwas besonderes. Der Skipper ist mit dem Boot sogar durch das Loch gefahren. Danach hatte man die Möglichkeit ohne Aufpreis bei dem unternehmenseigenen Strand in der Otehei Bucht eine Pause zu machen. Eine Fähre hat uns dann später nach Paihia zurück gebracht. Die Crew von unserem Skipper war außerdem sehr kompetent und konnte viel zu den Delphine erzählen. Alles in allem haben wir wesentlich mehr für unser Geld bekommen als erwartet. Super Tour!

Super, um die Bay of Islands ein wenig zu erkunden
Wir konnten leider nicht mit den Delfinen schwimmen, da diese Babys hatten und das laut des Departements of Conservation verboten ist. Dennoch hat sich die Tour auf jeden Fall gelohnt! Unsere ging sogar etwas länger als 4 Stunden und wir haben viele Delfine aus der Nähe gesehen. So tolle Tiere! Des Weiteren hatten wir 2 coole Guides und 1 sehr sympathischen Kapitän, die uns sehr viele Informationen zu den Gewässern und den Delfinen gegeben haben. Jeder der drei hat sich jederzeit Zeit für Fragen oder ähnliches genommen. Neben der Tollen Dolphin Discovery, durften wir an einem bestimmten Anschnitt vom Boot springen und schwimmen gehen. Das Wasser war so schön! Ich glaube es war das klarste und türkiseste Wasser, in dem wir bisher geschwommen sind. An einer anderen Stelle durften wir dann noch Schnorcheln gehen, was auf jeden Fall eine Erfahrung wert war! Man könnte einige Fische beobachten und auf eigene Faust das Riff erkunden. Außerdem konnten wir an einer Stelle auch noch Robben beobachten. Alles in Allem fand ich die Tour richtig toll und empfehlenswert, da auch wenn der eine Pod der Delfine Babys hatte, haben der Kapitän und die Guides trotzdem versucht noch andere zu finden, die vielleicht kein Junges dabei haben. Wir hatten leider kein Glück, sehr schade, aber hat sich, wie gesagt, trotzdem mehr als gelohnt!

Mega geiler scheiss. Marty unser Skipper war mega nice wir hatten ne Mega Time. Leider kaum Delfine gesehen. Aber dafür geile Zeit gehabt. Mega nice. Aber ist das Geld nicht wert, wenn man keine Delfine zum schwimmen findet.
