Relaxed and informative

My family had an excellent experience riding the rail carts. A relaxed way of having a more in depth look at rural Dargaville & surrounds. Being a local it was made more interesting with history I didn't know being pointed out along the way. Well worthwhile!

A nice ride through the countryside.

A nice way to spend the afternoon doing something different. The trip goes past & through several farms with a couple of bridge crossings thrown in for good measure. John guides the trip & stops along the way giving you some background of the railway & surrounding area. One cautionary note about using bookme is the number of available spaces it shows may not be accurate. I booked 2 spaces when 4 were available and got an email from John shortly thereafter saying my date was full and unavailable. Luckily for me I had enought time on my holiday to reschedule otherwise I would have missed out.

Great experience

We had a great time, even in the cold weather. It was one of the highlights for our son. The hosts were friendly and kind and we even enjoyed scones and coffee.

Rail carting in Dargaville

We took our two grandchildren as a school holiday treat. They loved it!! Compared to other activities I consider it to be value for money. You travel in convoy along the tracks, over bridges and under tunnels...stop along the way to learn interesting history of the area. When we reached our destination we were served tea and the most delicious scones. All the staff made a special fuss of the children ensuring the had the best time. I would totally recommend it and suggest that Dargaville locals experience it as well so they can promote it as an attraction for tourists to their town. WIN WIN
