Eco Tours Fiordland - Milford Sound Cruise

Milford Sound Cruise Ex Milford

Enjoy a uniquely awesome experience of breathtaking Milford Sound aboard Milford Sounds' friendliest cruise.

Designed for Milford, our modern catamaran, Maiden of Milford, will provide close up viewing from 3 decks of the boat, inside and out.

The cruise travels beneath sheer cliff faces of the mountains that rise almost vertically from the depths of the fiord and out into the Tasman Sea. You'll see why Captain Cook who after charting all the other fiords of Fiordland National Park failed to discover Milford Sound.

During the cruise stops are made at various points of interest along the way. You'll get close enough to be doused by the spray from towering waterfalls dropping from hanging valleys, and see seal colonies from just metres away. During the period from August to early December the rare Fiordland Crest Penguin can often be seen at various localities around the shoreline. Dolphins are also seen from time to time when they visit the fiord but are not always present.

A selection of food including tasty wraps from our Pita Pit outlet as well as drinks and espresso coffee are available for purchase on-board.

Tea is complimentary.

An informative commentary is provided and there are interesting information sheets that can be taken away.

All the boats see the same sights; why pay extra?!

We booked the first trip of the day on a changeable day at Milford Sound. The boat was one of the first to leave the terminal and looking back you could see the others following the same route. The Jucy boat was modern and clean with food and drink available to buy, and a free brunch cake (a glorified potato rosti), orange juice and bottomless cups of tea on board. Our guide, Andrew, was absolutely phenomenal. Genuinely the best tour guide I've had. Greeted us onto the boat, had cracking banter, knew his stuff, was happy to pose for photos with other passengers and chat to us about walks on the drive back all while driving, giving out tour info and contacting base. 10/10 experience!

Breathtaking

Milford Sound never disappoints! Breathtaking scenery as always. Our trip was informative and educational. The captain and crew were very professional, kind and funny. The vessel was clean and tidy, toilets included.

All in all experience was good! The captain gave lot of interesting information. Tidy well equipped vessel, unfortunately not much space on the outside! Nice for rany days but not for sunny ones

Excellent cruise

We were quite lucky with the weather I guess. We sailed under the clear skies on a sunny morning. Staff on the jucy boat was very friendly, smiling, positive and taking good care of cleanliness on board (continually collecting empty tea cups). The cruise itself was fun and a commentary was just a cherry on the pie- informative and entertaining too! Very well done!! -v
