Another dimension to Milford

This was my 2nd trip to Milford, this featured a faster boat that enabled time at the underwater observatory. It left an hour later than other cruises so we weren't troubled by the masses I had previously experienced at the wharf. A lunch pack was provided which was fresh had a variety of things. The coach driver and boat staff were well informed about the region. Seeing those rare corals and fish set this apart.

Highly Recommend!

Loved the entire Milford Sound trip, our bus driver was extremely knowledgeable about the history of where we were and made stops along the way to allow us photos and experiences! Having lunch and the underwater observatory included was especially great and made the trip that much more worth it. And of course the actual boat trip was amazing! Went right up to the Stirling Falls and could have hot coffee inside right after. Highly recommend!

Best way to see Milford Sound

We decided not to drive ourselves but do this organised trip, and so glad we did. Our driver was excellent he had so much knowledge of the areas we passed through from Queenstown that he made a long trip interesting. The scenery is stunning, we made several stops en route. We did the Milford sound tour which included the underwater observatory, which we thoroughly recommend. Leave your own transport at Queenstown and enjoy the guided journey.

Breathtaking

There were only 8 people on my trip, so it ended up being more of a private tour than it was a group event, which was super nice! We got lucky with the weather being sunny since it rains over 200 days of the year in Milford Sound. Our coach driver was very funny with his commentary and was very friendly and informative as well- he even helped us spot trout in the river and lakes at one of our stops on Milford Road. Definitely pack snacks if you don’t want to spend money at the cafe you will stop at because lunch was not until 2 and we boarded the coach at 8, so most were hungry well before lunch (luckily I packed snacks). We had a total of maybe 5 different stops on the journey which was very enjoyable as the trip into Milford Sound is equally as spectacular as Milford Sound itself. The boat crew were great as well, very informative over the loudspeaker, offering to take our pictures, recommending picture spots and they even played a popular rock song as we approached to waterfall to pump everyone up haha. Our boat was much nicer than the surrounding cruises ( the nearby boats looked like tiny cruise ships packed with people). The underwater observatory was cool...lots of fish to be seen. A very long day to say the least!
