Another dimension to Milford

This was my 2nd trip to Milford, this featured a faster boat that enabled time at the underwater observatory. It left an hour later than other cruises so we weren't troubled by the masses I had previously experienced at the wharf. A lunch pack was provided which was fresh had a variety of things. The coach driver and boat staff were well informed about the region. Seeing those rare corals and fish set this apart.

Top Notch Experience

I strongly recommend this tour. We left Queenstown around 8am, which is later than most others and still had time to make all the key stops along the way, cruise the entire sound, and visit the underwater observatory and be back by 8:30pm. Brad, our tour guide and driver-extraordinaire, did an incredible job sharing his knowledge and was an all around great guy - the exact type of person you'd want to spend 12 hours around! The lunch was a tasty, but light, so do either pack your own snacks or buy some at a stop along the way to hold you over.

Milford sound

This is an excellent experience thought iris my 2nd times to milford sound after about 20 years. The coach was nice with glass top and the driver Russel provide commentary on the different aspect of NZ during the trip. There are a few short stops for viewing between Te Anau and milford sound, however, it was raining the entire day. The experience was interesting as raining you can see many waterfalls as compared to sunny day. The wind was strong and the boat get close to the waterfalls for a wet experience. Underwater observatory was good, however, due to rain, the water was not clear at 10m below surface. While we still see many fishes, etc, it properly will be better with clearer water when no orless rain. Overall a good experience and enjoyable trip thought long travel time.

Highly Recommend!

Loved the entire Milford Sound trip, our bus driver was extremely knowledgeable about the history of where we were and made stops along the way to allow us photos and experiences! Having lunch and the underwater observatory included was especially great and made the trip that much more worth it. And of course the actual boat trip was amazing! Went right up to the Stirling Falls and could have hot coffee inside right after. Highly recommend!
