Journey through spectacular natural landscapes as your local coach driver provides engaging and informative commentary and shows you the best short walks and photo stops along the Milford Road.
Upon arrival at Milford Sound, jump on-board a smaller boat for a fascinating Nature Cruise with fewer people. Soak up breath-taking scenic views as we really explore the beauty of the Fiord, and get within touching distance of impressive rock walls and right up close to Stirling Falls. Our expert skippers will share their local knowledge with lively and informative commentary, plus you'll enjoy a freshly prepared picnic lunch.
Visit Milford Sound Underwater Observatory and descend 60 steps down a spiral staircase into a spacious viewing chamber to discover the unique and beautiful environment hidden under the surface of Milford Sound. Immerse yourself in a mysterious undersea world and encounter the extraordinary rare black coral and colourful sea creatures teeming just below the surface.
We'll then cruise back to the Milford Sound Visitor Centre to re-join the coach for the comfortable return journey back to Queenstown.

Very good Experience
We started on time. Keith is an exceptional driver/tour guide. He provided excellent information as we traversed through Milford Sound. We had stops for breaks and photo opportunities. We enjoyed every moment of this trip. The underwater observatory is a plus! 10/10 will recommend!

Fantastic day trip
Driver was so informative, knowledgeable and warm and engaging.Milford sound drive in was incredible, majestic mountains. The boat trip was so fabulous, as was the buffet lunch. Can;t wait to go back in winter and experience it in a different season. And use Southern Discoveries again.. highly recommend :)

Good trip
The weather was just good on the day we went, driver has a very good skill in driving and fun when doing explanation. However, we were informed underwater observatory and buffet lunch is cancelled one day before our trip. Buffet lunch is a top up option but the company refuse to make refund…a bit disappointed on this

Disappointing
Paid for underwater observatory but got cancelled and said no refund because we booked via Bookme.co.nz plus paid extra for hot meal but said no hot meal and no refund because again we hot the price cheaper via Bookme.co.nz. very disappointed with Southern discoveries. Although our coach driver to Milford Sound and great and entertaining

Fabulous day at Fiordland NP
Everything went well and had a great day. Only suggestion would be to keep the buffet lunch open for tge whole duration of the cruise so that folks can choose when they want to eat instead of rushing for it and miss out tge attractions.
