Best Milford Sound Tour Ever!

I did this tour with my elderly Mum and we both had such a great time. Lots of photo stops along the way, yummy date scones for morning tea and very knowledgeable, entertaining guide. I felt like they really cared about giving their guests good memories. Highly recommend ?

Fantastic trip!

Had a great day out in a beautiful part of our country. The only down side was that we were not given the lunch that was included with this tour.

Fabulous

These guys are awesome. We were locked down in Te Anau the day we arrived, and Ray of Fiordland Tours stayed in touch the whole time. As soon as we went into level 2, he had us on our way. Our driver Jamie was the best, he was so excited and his energy made for a great day stopping at amazing places enroute to Milford Sound. The boat cruise was fabulous, but for us the journey getting their with Jamie was the best. I wouldn't go with any other company and highly recommend these guys!

Thank you for your review and the time spent writing reviews and posts. Thank you for being sooo patient and waiting for lock down to reduce and then having to wait an extra day for the weather to clear. It was great to be able to finally meet you on the day of the tour. We hope that you enjoyed the extra time here and hope that you can return one day/days in the future. Regards Ray

Fiorldland Tours

What a fantastic day it was. We went with Jamie from Fiorldland Tours. We were on a smaller bus, which was the best thing. Guided walks and local knowledge in a small group. Stopped for yummy scones and coffee and tea. Great lunch, yummy huge sandwiches, drink, chocolate, fruit, slice of cake. This was all included in the price. Outstanding guide from Jamie. This is the company I would commend and ask for Jamie.

Not what we expected

While we really enjoyed our first time at Milford, we couldn't help but feel as though we didn't get the experience we had hoped for from this tour. It was lightly raining for our trip but we are told this happens more often than not so didn't expect it to impact our tour. A more appropriate name would've been the 'Bird Tour' as we started by going to a bird sanctuary in Te Anau. We stopped at least three times to look at ducks in paddocks however did not have one stop to look at the beautiful mountain landscapes or temporary waterfalls. Luckily after going through the tunnel there was a kea at a lookout so our driver stopped - however without the bird being there it was clear we would not be stopping. When we were trying to get photos of the beauty around us we were told to get in the van and close the door so the kea didn't go inside. Because of all the bird stops there were a number of beautiful places we drove by but didn't have time to stop. Noone on the trip was excited by the birds other than the driver and we were all a bit surprised that this tour was not what we had hoped. The boat was fantastic, not overcrowded and took us to all the great spots around the sounds, though this is one that wasn't exclusive to this tour. The food was nice (though we weren't able to warm up with a hot chocolate as not enough were stocked). Some feedback for the company would be to ask passengers what they are hoping to get out of the trip rather than following the drivers interests.

From Milford Sound Extraordinaire Tour Including Picnic Lunch Ex Te Anau

Thank you for your review of our small group tour to Milford sound. We are saddened that the tour did not deliver what you expected. Because we have five hours to show off the road to Milford Sound, there are times when small groups such as yours (7 in total) that we start the day with a quick visit to the bird park. However, because of your "bird tour" comment we are reviewing this. On fine weather days, we spend extended time in Milford Sound absorbing all the scenery. This was not an option on your day as low cloud and rain made enjoying scenic stops a challenge at times. The Kea that you are referring to. We have to let people out and shut the door as this particular one starts picking holes in the door rubber. Whilst this may look fun for people taking photos, it becomes very expensive as the door lining costs $600 to replace each time. To board again has to be done as quickly as possible to avoid further damage. The hot chocolate that you are mentioning, is put in when we have children, and not intended for adults anyway. We hoped that you would have understood that. The 14 stops that your guide made amongst mountains and waterfalls seems to have been over looked by yourself. I have asked the family that went with you on the 16th July about their experience and they told me that they really enjoyed the day. We ask readers of the 2/5 review as above, to look at all the 5/5 reviews preceding this one. Regards Ray Owner
