Hi Peter, Thank you for taking the time to review your Milford Sound Glacier Flight. It definately saves a lot of time. It takes 10 hours to travel by road from Wanaka to Milford Sound and return. Taking the option you chose means you can fly from Wanaka to Milford Sound, take the scenic boat cruise and return to Wanaka (4 hrs) before you would have even reached Milford By road. The window seats that everyone has allows great opportunities to take plenty of photos of the stunning landscape. We love having the opportunity to share this spectacular region with everyone - especially New Zealanders as it it doesn't happen very often. Good on you Peter for exploring your own back door. Come and see us if you are visiting Wanaka again. Regards from the Southern Alps Air Team.
