Mining and Mountain Hike - Queenstown Hikes

Get ready for a fascinating day of exploration and fun! This 8km hike takes about 3 hours to complete and is a perfect idea for families with a moderate level of fitness.

Starting with a complimentary pick-up from Queenstown, we’ll take you on a lovely scenic drive 15 minutes out of Queenstown toward the Twelve Mile Delta Campsite.

Grab your camera, breathe in the fresh air and prepare to take some beautiful shots! On the walk, your friendly guide will take you to old mining sites and an authentic miners hut built in the 1930’s, while also giving you an insight on gold mining.

You’ll also see and get to learn about the natural rock fissures that once formed tailraces. While you are taking in all the surrounding natural beauty, make sure not to miss the amazing waterfall! You can also climb above the creek where you will be greeted with stunning elevated views toward Lake Dispute.

All that walking and exploring can make you hungry so we’ll top of the day with a complimentary morning tea before we finish the walk and drop you back to your Queenstown accommodation.
