Real Journeys - Doubtful Sound Wilderness Coach & Cruise from Queenstown

Experience the unrivalled beauty and pristine wilderness of Doubtful Sound with an unforgettable Real Journeys day cruise.

Sit back, relax and soak up the scenery as we leave the hustle and bustle of Queenstown behind and venture deep into the Fiordland National Park.

Upon arrival in Manapouri, we will board our first vessel and cruise across the beautiful waterways of the lake towards the West Arm.

Guests will then board a coach to experience a scenic trip with photo opportunities over the epic Wilmot Pass, journeying through Fiordland’s majestic rainforest and into the sound.

Upon arrival at the sound, our friendly crew will welcome you onboard our purpose built catamaran the Patea Explorer.

Throughout the enchanting cruise of Doubtful Sound, you will be mesmerized by this vast fiord with its rugged peaks, lush rainforest, and beautiful hidden inlets.

Our experienced nature guides will share with you the knowledge and history of the fiord throughout the journey and highlight the local wildlife we may encounter such as dolphins and fur seals.

Join us and immerse yourself in nature and the sheer beauty and isolation of the pristine Doubtful Sound.

Absolutely Recommend

OMG where do I start!!!! The whole experience was amazing! The cruise was the most beautiful and peaceful thing I have ever seen! If you love rainforest, rivers, waterfalls, and just nature in general then I would definitely recommend. At first I thought 13 hours was quite long, but the entire trip from when we were picked was entertaining right till the very end! We had a female driver who picked us up and she told us the history of Queenstown and the drive there was interesting and I didn't even sleep throughout the bus ride (which I usually do). Then we had another guide Malcolm and it was amazing how much he told us about the rainforest and the geography involved. The cruise and commentating were my favorite!

Doubtful Sound day trip

Thanks Real Journeys - for the awesome trip to Doubtful Sound. The glass roof coach trip to Manapouri was beautiful, our driver Lloyd was very knowledgeable, the ferry trip across the lake , the bus trip to Doubtful sound and the cruise around Doubtful sound with breath taking sights, were just an amazing and humbling experience. The fact that we saw dolphins, penguins and fur seals was a huge bonus. Highly recommended if you love a peaceful, beautiful, long day.
