Kayak pure alpine waters and explore the secluded beaches of Lake Wakatipu's Island reserves; Pig & Pigeon Island.

After a short scenic transfer from Queenstown, set off with a highly trained and knowledgeable guide on a short 45minute paddle from the shores of Glenorchy where the majestic Southern Alps provide a stunning picturesque backdrop.

Explore the islands native beech forest on a guided walk to encounter some of New Zealand's endangered bird species including the notoriously cheeky Weka that provide great photo opportunities. Refreshments are provided with time to relax on the beach before beginning the return paddle.


What you need to bring:

  • Suitable outdoor clothing (dress for the conditions on the day)
  • Shoes suited to the outdoors (e.g. running shoes or hiking boots)
  • Sunglasses & sunscreen
  • Camera

All kayaking & safety equipment provided as well as a dry bag to protect your camera.



Price: $135pp


Departure: Trips depart daily at 8am & 1pm in summer (November-April)

Pick up: Bus departs from The Station Building Bus Stop on the corner of Shotover & Camp St

Checkin: Please be ready to board the bus 10 minutes prior to departure (7.50am or 12.50pm - please don't be late)

Duration: Allow 4.5 hours return

Restrictions:

  • Minimum age 8 years
  • Reasonable level of fitness required
  • Minimum Numbers: Minimum numbers may apply - bookings confirmed with 2 passengers, smaller bookings may on occasion be wait-listed to confirm. On the rare occasion a trip is cancelled by the operator a full refund or alternative trip time will be arranged.
