The only wine tour that includes a special Māori cultural experience while you sample some of the finest wines in New Zealand!

Highlights

  • The ultimate combination - wine, culture and history
  • An exciting and diverse way to get to know the region
  • Learn about the sacred and traditional Māori pratices
  • An authentic New Zealand experience for tourists and locals to enjoy

Your day begins at 11 am, when you will be collected from your Queenstown accommodation.

You will unfortunately not be welcomed with a Māori greeting, the Hongi, which helps to establish a connection with you and the Māori people of New Zealand and the Whenua (land). An explanation about the importance of the Hongi will happen.

You will enjoy a scenic 15-minute drive to Gibbston and Lake Hayes where you will begin tasting a delicious selection of Pinot Noir, Gris, Sauvignon Blanc and more!

The first winery is Akarua, then the Mt Rosa winery. At Mt Rosa you may be treated to a live performance of the Māori Dance the 'Haka’.

Next, you will move onto either Bald Hills or Wet Jacket to their "tasting room" made from a repurposed sheep shearing shed before heading back to Queenstown.

Experience this one-of-a-kind wine tasting with a fascinating Māori culture spin! Learn about Māori history and their experiences of this region while sampling many wonderful wines.

Amazing wine tour!

We had a great time on our wine tour with Joe! He was a very friendly guy and taught us a lot about the Maori Culture and founding history of New Zealand. Would definitely recommend this tour to friends. Thanks again Joe

A great day out

We were warmly welcomed and were able to experience different parts of the Maori culture throughout the day. The wineries were beautiful and everyone had so much knowledge about the area and their wines. It was a great way to explore Queenstown and the Gibbston Valley region. Would definitely book again
