You can learn about them and also some indigenous culture using their free audio guide, which is available in a few languages. The Kiwi encounter was in a dark room with 4 kiwis, where a staff member talks about the bird, unfortunately no photos allowed. The conservation show was interesting too, a staff member talks about a few types of animals (tuatara, kiwi specimen, rainbow lorikeets, kereru) and they put on an engaging display (birds from fly one end to another as the two staff advance up and down the steps). There also is free honey tasting in their shop which is definitely welcomed. They were chill about me using my entry for another date as well - definitely should come when in Queenstown!
