Superb tour

David Harper said... Jamie, our Mitre Peak Tour driver, picked us up from our accommodation around 8am in a minibus, there were only 12 of us on this tour - perfect. Jamie gave a running commentary telling us about the areas we were passing through and he stopped off at various points of interest along the way, sometimes not even planned but just because he'd spotted something that he thought would interest us all. We did several short walks to amazing cascading waterfalls, beautiful viewpoints and some very interesting historical sites that we would never have know about unless we'd devoured a bunch of guidebooks! (He also ensured we stopped for comfort breaks!) We got to Milford at 1:30, nicely in time for the 2pm cruise into the Sound. The cruise was on a smaller boat, one of Mitre Peak's own, and only had about 60 people on board so we all had somewhere to sit. The cruise itself was excellent and the captain made sure we got really close to some amazing waterfalls on the 2 hour round trip. Take your own food if needed but there was free tea/coffee on board, plus toilets of course. The journey back to Te Anau also included a couple of stops for even more photo opportunities as the afternoon sun changed the landscape again. Jamie was the perfect host/driver, always careful, always informative and a really nice bloke too. I would not hesitate to recommend Mitre Peak and would certainly do it all again with them if I was back over this way.
