Logan Jernigan said... On August 23nd, 2018 a friend & I spontaneously booked a Milford sound tour. I myself had visited back in February of 2018 but was keen on going back. Our pick up time was at 6:50 A.M. We woke up, grabbed a quick breakfast & headed to board our bus. According to our email confirmation, we were to be picked up at the corner of Camp & Shotover street near the clock tower. There was a GoOrange bus parked where we were supposed to be picked up so we approached the driver. Our names weren't on his list. He advised us to wait on Athol street. We cut through an alley way that linked Camp street & Athol street where we seen another bus. We approached the driver, asking as to whether or not he was heading to the Milford Sound. He wasn't, but, ensured us that all buses leading to the Sound come to Athol street. 6:50 had passed & we began to get nervous. At 7:00 A.M. I called the customer enquiry number. A man answered & I explained the situation. He said that we'd need to run back to Camp St. as the bus was soon to depart. My friend & I ran across the street & through the alley. Once exiting the alley we were greeted by a Milford Select bus that just signaled a blinker, about to pull off. We ran, waving our arms signaling for the driver to stop. Thankfully the driver stopped letting us on. I was expecting to be greeted by a grouch, but, was pleasantly surprised. My friend & I dubbed our driver Kevin the Kiwi & we couldn't stop talking about how much we admired him. He was knowledgeable, passionate, efficient & friendly. I had gone into it expecting gray skies & rainfall as the Milford sound receives, on average, 7 meters of rain yearly. The drive to Te Anau from Queenstown indicated that more than likely we'd be greeted by rain upon arrival, but, when we entered into the Fiordland National Park, the skies cleared. We made a few pit stops at places like Eglinton Valley & Mirror Lakes which were as beautiful as I had remembered. After a long journey from Queenstown, we arrived to the Milford Sound & there stood Mitre peak in all of its snowcapped glory. We boarded our boat with Real Journeys at 13:00. We celebrated with some Monteith's cider, went to the top deck & soaked in the sunshine & admired the views. The Milford sound was deemed the eighth wonder of the world for a reason. It has the power to put things into perspective, a very humbling experience. Our boat returned back & we disembarked on a high after such a great day. I highly recommend the company Milford Select & if you can, request Kevin, he's brilliant. Also, if you're susceptible to motion sickness, bring some Dramamine along with you as the roads here are relentless & winding. I very seldom experience motion sickness but did whilst en route to & from Milford. Also, try your best to limit your excitement during the early hours of having boarded the bus, otherwise you'll have an unenthused passenger approach you & ask for you to keep it down...
