For this reason I booked in for it, unfortunately heavy rain fell the day I had chosen which meant the river was closed for rafting, I had the option to change to Kawarau River or change my days (this unfortunately wasn't an option). I didn't want to miss out on rafting so chose the first option and was told it would still be quite thrilling because of all the rain. I was somewhat disappointed, most of the river was slow flowing and minimal rapids exist. This is good for beginners or those that do not feel comfortable with the idea of potentially falling in. While my experience had nothing to do with the staff (they were very helpful) it wasn't the experience I had hoped for.
