See more, hear more, experience more with our guided tour.
Experience more on a guided tour of Sanctuary Mountain's southern enclosure site Te Tui a Tane.
This protected ecosystem has one of the largest pest-proof fences in the world to allow New Zealand's most vulnerable and endangered wildlife to survive.
By visiting, not only will you enjoy the beautiful forest and bird song but you will be helping to protect this area for future generations with all proceeds going back into the conservation of this environment.
See some of the resident birds such as hihi (stitch bird), korimako (bellbird), pītoitoi (North Island robin) and kākā (cheeky forest parrot). Marvel at the pest-free native forest with towering awa, rewarewa, pukatea and rimu trees along with a variety of beautiful ferns.
Your friendly and knowledgeable guide will identify the flora, fauna and wildlife you encounter and there is an optional walk up the 16-meter high observation tower for stunning views.
Our Visitor Centre, Manu Tioriori is open daily from 9am to 4pm with toilet facilities, information, refreshments and souvenirs available for purchase.
