My best rafting experience!

I've had my fair share of rafting but this particular raft on Kaituna River was especially wonderful because of the fantastic people at Kaitiaki. They took us on an adventure but did not miss out on the cultural appreciation of the river we were on, giving us a deeper appreciation for nature and the Maori culture. Top marks for the lads at Kaitiaki for the exceptional adventure and would definitely recommend this as the top activity in Rotorua of u want to learn about the culture and experience it all whilst having the time of your life.

Fun experience, bit disappointed with the tone

The actual rafting experience was great, the rapids were exciting and the crew supervising were experienced and it felt very well organised. However the tone was a bit crass and sexist with lots of comments about the women in the front of the raft 'taking a load to the face' a pretty unfunny joke repeated multiple times. I was also a bit queasy about the Maori tradition being co-opted as a tourist 'experience' by what appeared to be non-Maori guides, especially as it was really well and seriously done by a Maori team member at the outset of the trip, and because we were passing through a Maori burial ground, it felt appropriate to treat it seriously, but when we were actually on the river it felt a bit like shouting Maori chants and prayers was just part of the rafting experience and it veered a bit close to cultural appropriation with the meaning stripped out which I wasn't entirely comfortable with in retrospect. It's a shame because the guides were mostly great, enthusiastic and experienced and great at setting you at ease and making the experience enjoyable. It's just that things feeling a little bit sexist and a little bit racist takes the shine off an experience and seems pretty unnecessary as the basic product is so good.

Amazing adventure! Super aventure!

An hour of action packed rafting with friendly guides, all with highest safety levels, and going down a 7m waterfall- among other cool activities.
