Discover fascinating natural wonders including waterfalls and World Heritage forest reserves on a scenic journey from Auckland toward the largest freshwater lake in Australasia.

Lake Taupo, known as a land of fire and ice, boasts a stunning natural cauldron surrounded by snow-capped mountains and geothermal wonders including hot springs and bubbling mud pools, so have your camera at the ready to capture all the amazing sights.

You'll be amazed by the majestic Huka Falls - an incredible waterfall that thunders 11m into the Waikato River below and boasts the title of being New Zealand's most visited natural attraction.

We then visit the amazing Maori Rock carvings by way of a relaxing boat cruise - the only way to explore them. Take in the views from your unique perspective on the water and learn all about the spiritual and cultural significance of the area from your knowledgable skipper before arriving at the carvings, towering 14 meters above the waters of Lake Taupo.

Step aboard, explore Lake Taupō, and discover its natural beauty and hidden wonders with an eco-friendly cruise with Sail Barbary.

Leave your cares and the shoreline behind and set sail across the crystal-blue waters of Lake Taupō. Investigate the hidden bays and beautiful coastline as you enjoy stunning vistas guarded by majestic mountains, enduring witnesses to Taupō’s volcanic past. Explore the culture, history, and sustainability of the region as you voyage to the Māori Rock Carvings at Mine Bay. We will take you right up close to the 14 metre high face of Ngatoroirangi.
