As we silently cruise out to the carvings on crystal clear water you will be able to view the spectacular scenery from the comfort of your seat.
Our experienced skippers will inform you about the ecological, historical, spiritual and cultural significance of the area as you sail out to the 14-metre high Maori Rock Carvings in Mine Bay. These carvings are only accessible by water. Sail barbary will take you right up close for the perfect photo of Ngatororangi carved into the rock face.
On the trip home, you can jump into the deep blue freshwater lake for a swim or your captain will gladly show you the ropes and you can help hoist the sails or even take a turn at the wheel
To top it all off, we are licensed or you can BYO (Bring Your Own) food and beverages. Things really couldn’t get more Kiwi.

Departures:
10.30am and 2.00pm Departures: Your 2.5 hour cruise includes a complimentary beverage and a Sail Barbary Postcard.
5.00pm Departure (summer only): Your 2.5 hour evening cruise includes buffet-style pizza selection*, a glass of Wine/Beer or Soft Drink, and a Sail Barbary Postcard. You can even BYO (Bring Your Own) prepared Food & Beverages (R18 for alcohol).
Please be at the boat 15 minutes before we sail.
**The buffet-style pizza selection is a range of pizza flavours including vegetarian. Unfortunately, we cannot cater to dietary requirements – however, you are welcome to bring your own food with you.
*Please Note: There must be 1 Adult ticket purchased for every 2 Child tickets for safety reasons.
Meeting Point: Barbary Sailings depart from Berths 9 & 10, Redoubt Street, Taupo Boat Harbour. You can access the boat harbour from Ferry Road (off Lake Terrace) or Redoubt Street (opposite Countdown). Free parking available at the boat harbour.

I am so delighted that you enjoyed the trip. I often say the carvings are like the icing on the cake as the sailing is an experience in itself. Its great your 7 year old enjoyed his chocolate fish and hot chocolate, great photos.

Had a lot of fun, skipper was very knowledge about the area and maori carving. They had bathroom facilities, hot beverages, biscuits and warm ponchos for the ride out. Was a beautiful experience that I will not forgot any time soon. Thank you so much.
