Wairakei is highly valued by Maori's who settled here over a 1,000 years ago and enjoyed the waters therapeutic and healing powers.
Marvel at the intricate Maori carvings during your walk through the terraces which depict the history of the local tribe Ngati Tuwharetoa.
You'll be in awe of the geysers that blast the waters up from depths of 1.5km reaching pressures of 250 thousand pounds per square inch.
The vivid blue pools cascade beautifully over the terraces, carrying the silica which helped form these amazing natural platforms.

Eine geschlossene (!) Attraktion zu verkaufen!
Wir sind über 100 km Umweg dafür gefahren - nur um zu erfahren, dass es leider die ganze Woche geschlossen und ohne Wasser ist. Dass wir dann das Eintrittsgeld zurück bekommen ist nicht wirklich zufriedenstellend!

Ganz nett zum spazieren
Nettes Plätzchen zum spazieren. Der Spa Bereich sieht auch schön aus, wir waren leider nicht drin. Den vollen hätte ich aber nicht bezahlen wollen.

Excellent service, divine massage, picturesque
We were greeted by a lovely staff member who guided us through the process of arriving and finding our way around. My massage was one of the best I’ve ever experienced in my lifetime, and my husband was able to walk around the terraces whilst I did that. We both met up to have a swim and experience all the different temperature pools. There was enough shade and towel hooks to accommodate everyone and it was one of our favourite experiences in New Zealand!

Netter kleiner Spaziergang, der durch das Infoblatt von der Rezeption durchaus interessant ist. Guter Einstieg um danach in die hot pools zu gehen.
