Location: 1227 Waitomo Valley Road, Waitomo

Fitness Test: If the guide(s) on the day have any doubt about a client’s fitness they may ask them to prove it by completing a fitness-test. One quick and simple test we may use is “to step up and down a 20 cm (8 inches) step not less than 45 times in 60 seconds”. We strongly recommend clients complete this test before they book their activity and before they travel to Waitomo. Clients may also be requested to submit to breath-testing for alcohol or other drugs. Where appropriate, guides may at their sole discretion cancel a departure or remove an unsuitable client from a departing trip for any safety-related reason.

Pregnancy: We do not recommend abseiling ( rappelling ) during the 1st and 3rd trimester due to the need to wear a tight-fitting harness across your waist during the abseil.

All pregnant clients wishing to participate in one of our adventure options must provide a medical certificate from their General Medical Practitioner confirming that they are fit for abseiling ( rappelling ) and caving.

This policy is required for us to comply with the NZ Adventure Safety Regulations.

Great fun

I was hesitant given my claustrophobia but ended up having a blast. Joel was a fantastic guide and made us feel safe but also gave us opportunities to challenge ourselves. He also had great information to share with us and gave us plenty of time to enjoy the glowworms. It was also great that he took photos for us and shared them with us without an extra fee. Would highly recommend this to anyone.

A very good experience

We did the Tumutumu Toobing with my partner and it was amazing! For me, it was my first caving experience and I was a little bit nervous, but the guide was very calm and patient so it was perfect ! We spent a very good moment! Thank you again!

Tumu Tumu caving

A really cool experience. This cave is mostly horizontal and has no real challenges apart from a few tight spaces. We really enjoyed it and a good entry level if you want to see the glow worm caves amd have a bit of fun. If you want more adrenaline though, the lost world tour or the haggas honking tours steps it up a bit with more activities in them like zip lining and rock climbing.
