Experience the beauty of one of Aotearoa's favorite regions on New Zealand's premier Sky Waka Gondola.
Starting at the base station, this stunning trip travels 1.8km up to a height of 2020m above sea level, giving you majestic views into the clouds, past waterfalls and ancient lava flows along the way.
On the 12 minute journey, you'll discover the Central Plateau in all its glory from your cabin, each spacious enough to hold a maximum of 10 people.
An absolute must do for international travelers and locals alike, offering a unique way to soak up the stunning beauty of Aotearoa.
The Sky Waka gondola is set to open everyday until April 27th, from 9 am - 4pm. This is subject to weather conditions on the day so please check the report on: www.whakapapa.com/report

Sky Waka Gondola
Great value for families. We enjoyed our day up on Mt Ruapehu.

Great experience
Enjoy the gondola up to the mount Ruapehu. Nice view and many tracks can do from the base.

Beautiful even in fog
We took the Gondola to the Peak on a really foggy day and even though we couldn’t see much at some points, it was still breathtaking! We had so much fun doing the knoll loop hike and went to the restaurant at the end, where you have a great view of the mountain and the surroundings. The gondola was a great way to get up and down, because it was really peaceful and you could take the view in without any disturbances. I would really recommend the gondola as it was really cheap for such a great experience!
